UMass Minutemen win first game of the season

Well today, it happened. The UMass Minutemen faced another winless team meaning that one team would go home defeated while the other got their first win. UMass was on the winner's side.

Facing Kent State who was 0-5 on the year, the Minutemen topped the Flash 40-17, improving to 1-6 on the year earning a win in MAC competition.

As always, quarterback Blake Frohnapfel led the way going 23-for-38 passing for 286 yards and three touchdowns.  He now has an outstanding 18 passing touchdowns on the year.

Running back Lorenzo Woodley had himself a day taking 23 carries for 160 yards including a long run of 43 yards while scoring a touchdown.

The defense got the job done today allowing just 17 points after blowing leads in two very winnable games two straight weeks as the team fell 47-42 against Bowling Green and 42-41 against Miami.

Next up for the Minutemen is a home game versus Eastern Michigan which kicks off next Saturday at 3PM EST.
