Tuukka Rask will have the night off tonight as the Boston Bruins take on the New York Islanders.
Replacing Rask in net will be Swedish rookie Niklas Svedberg. Svedberg, 25, has played goalie three times for the Bruins so far this season including two starts. He has allowed just two goals so far this year, both of which came in the team's loss to the Colorado Avalanche ten days ago. He was the third star of the game.
Other than that, he held his ground well in a start against the Buffalo Sabres stopping all 32 shots on net back on the 18th earning the first star of the game. As the Bruins fell to the Canadians earlier this season, he played the final 12 minutes of the game after Rask was pulled because he let up six goals.
Fans should be confident with Svedberg in the net tonight because although he has only a few NHL games under his belt, he has played like a vet in all of them. It would not be surprising if he puts up another strong performance tonight versus the first place Islanders, securing the trust of Claude Julien and Bruins nation alike.
