After waiting his turn for a number of year, the time has finally come for Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Mallett, 26, was a highly-touted QB out of Arkansas in the 2011 NFL draft, so much so that the New England Patriots snagged him in the third round.

After beating out Brian Hoyer for the backup job in 2012, Mallett made his NFL debut playing in four games for the Patriots. He completed a pass for 17 yards on four attempts and threw a pick while losing nine yards on eight carriers.

In 2013 like in 2011, Mallett never got in a game. He lost out on the backup quarterback job to rookie Jimmy Garoppolo and was dealt before the start of the 2014 season.

Now, the time has come for Mallett to start at quarterback for the first time since 2010 back when he was in college. His team, the Houston Texans, are currently 4-5 and recently benched quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in hopes that Mallett will have more success than him.

Fitzpatrick, the Harvard grad ,has tossed for 1,960 yards in nine games while completing 61.8% of his passes. He has thrown for 11 TDs and 8 INTs which makes him at least an above-average NFL quarterback.

Perhaps the team sees the potential for greatness in Mallett as the starting quarterback job that did not appear to be up for grabs.

The Texans head to Cleveland this Sunday where they will face off with the Browns.
