Although the Cleveland Browns playing the Houston Texans may sound irrelevant to New England Patriots fans, it could not be any more relevant.
You see, the starting quarterbacks for those two teams have one thing in common — they both used to play for the Patriots. Ryan Mallett is now starting for the Houston Texans and Brian Hoyer is now starting for the Cleveland Browns. In 2011 however, they were teammates. Hoyer was the backup quarterback behind Tom Brady and his backup was a rookie out of Arkansas — Ryan Mallett.
On the year, Mallett has yet to see substantial playing time unlike his Cleveland counterpart. Starting for the whole season, Hoyer owns a 58.5 completion percentage while slinging the pigskin for 2,212 yards. Earning a 90.4 passer rating, he has tossed 10 TD's and 4 INT's while leading his team to a 6-3 record.
