Former Red Sox farmhands head elsewhere

As the Boston Red Sox are loaded with depth in their farm system, it gets to the point where they cannot keep everyone. When players contracts expire, they come to a tough decision and have to decide whether not to sign any given player. Here are some instances of when they did not this off-season.

Milwaukee signed John Ely to a minor league deal. Ely spent one year in the Red Sox farm system.

Baltimore Signed Derrik Gibson to a minor league deal. Gibson was a second round pick back in 2008.

Oakland signed Carson Blair to a minor league deal. Blair was a late round pick back in 2008.

Kansas City signed Ryan Roberts to a minor league deal. Roberts spent a good chunk of the season in Pawtucket.

Oakland signed Ryan Verdugo to a minor league deal. He was acquired by Boston in July this past season.

Minnesota signed Heiker Meneses to a minor league deal. He had been in the organization since 2008.

Cincinnati signed Ivan De Jesus to a minor league deal. De Jesus was recently acquired in the blockbuster trade with LA back in 2012, but was most recently traded to Boston in the Kelly Johnson deal.
