New England Patriots star wide receiver Julian Edelman, who underwent surgery on Monday, will be out for six to eight weeks, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network.
Edelman injured the foot in the first quarter of Sunday’s 27-26 last second win over the New York Giants. Edelman came up lame after making a catch and slammed his helmet at the dislike of many Patriots fans.
Edelman reportedly fractured the fifth metatarsal bone in the mid-foot, an injury also known as a Jones fracture. This is the same injury that has sidelined Dallas Cowboys start wide receiver, Dez Bryant, since week four.
The 29-year-old’s status wasn’t known directly after the game but Patriots if he indeed is able to come back in eight weeks, that will be just in time for the NFL Playoffs.
Edelman leads the Patriots in receptions with 61 and is tied with Rob Gronkowski with seven touchdowns, which also leads the team.
